A noble initiative was taken by ASISC to bring Principals from various States together to be a part of a 5 day School leadership training program from 21st August 2023 to 25th August 2023.
Around 30 Principals were enrolled for this training. From West Bengal & North East Regions, Ms. Sonia Gidla from Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School, Barrackpore, Mrs. Shivangi Hamal from Camelia School, Darjeeling and Mrs. Gargi Banerjee from Sri Sri Academy, Kolkata were chosen to be a part of this intensive workshop.
Mrs. Devika Nadig and Mr. Vijay Gupta from Shikshangan Educational Initiatives walked usthrough the important and most integral areas of education. The process of training was quite immersive and hands on as all Principals got the opportunity toinvolve themselves in group activities and eventually share their experiences and views.
The training was divided into three broad, core areas of leadership:
School leaders got invaluable insights on building up on key skills like Decision making and Problem solving.
A lot was discussed and deliberated upon the purpose of education, curriculum, pedagogy, assessments and methods of teaching in class.
NCF, being the buzzword was also a prime topic of discussion. Legal Management, Finance and Brand building were also touched upon but it was skin deep. Mostly, Principals exchanged their ideas and how they deal with the same in their schools. Apart from the intensive training that kept us engrossed, we were also taken to Konark and Puri which was a much needed “breather”.
The accommodation, conveyance arrangements and food provided were of good quality. The logistics was handled efficiently.
All in all, the training was a rich, productive and fruitful experience. We feel empowered and energised with the wisdom gained and recommend such trainings to other school leaders too. We are thankful to ASISC for organising such an empowering programme and our Regional Secretary, Mr. Ranjan Mitter for recommending our names for the training.
